Obstetrics
We dedicate ourselves to the journey of motherhood with unparalleled commitment & care.
Our approach to obstetrics is all about choice and empowerment. We support everything from an intervention-free delivery to managing the intricacies of complex pregnancies.
-
Pre-pregnancy counselling: To optimise your health and wellbeing prior to pregnancy.
Management of complex and high-risk pregnancies including: Pre-eclampsia and blood pressure issues in pregnancy, gestational diabetes, pre-term births, fetal growth and placental issues, twins and multiple pregnancies, and maternal medical conditions.
Intervention-free and natural births: Offering guidance and supporting the natural birthing process.
Induction of labour: Care and assistance when natural processes need a helping hand.
VBAC (vaginal birth after caesarean): An alternative way to have a baby for those who have had a previous caesarean.
Elective caesareans: Planned and carefully carried out for comfort and safety.
Maternal assisted caesareans: Involving mothers actively in their baby’s birth, making the experience more personal and empowering.
Delayed cord clamping and placing your baby on your chest for skin-to-skin contact after birth, to calm and comfort your baby and to promote bonding and attachment.
These options are offered after a careful evaluation of your pregnancy, and with a deep understanding of your personal journey, ensuring you feel prepared every step of the way.
Schedule your first visit from 7 weeks of pregnancy onwards. Our team will see you every 4 weeks until 28 weeks, then fortnightly to 36 weeks, and weekly until birth.
Dr Marshall admits and provides private care for patients at Calvary John James Hospital in Deakin but can continue to provide care at The Canberra Hospital in Garran, or North Canberra Hospital in Bruce, should you or your baby require higher level care.
We are committed to being available for you, ensuring you have support whenever you need it.
At Canberra Women & Babies, we believe in collaborative care. This means you have access to a multi-disciplinary team dedicated to your overall well-being.
Embracing motherhood is a journey best navigated with care and support. That's why we collaborate with a dedicated team of Midwives, Lactation Consultants, Women’s Health Physiotherapists, and Psychologists—each committed to guiding you through every step towards motherhood.

Fetal Scans at Every Appointment
We understand the importance of monitoring the progress and health of your baby. Therefore, we include a fetal scan at every appointment. This not only ensures the ongoing health and development of your baby but also offers you peace of mind and an opportunity to bond with your baby even before birth.
Supporting all families
At Canberra Women & Babies, we welcome and support all families, including single parents, same-sex couples and gender-diverse people.
We are committed to supporting you through your journey with understanding and respect.
