Hello, I'm Dr. Drew Marshall, a specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Canberra Women & Babies.

I have a deep commitment to women's health, and am dedicated to providing specialist care to women at all stages of their lives.

My Approach to Patient Care

My approach is centred around building open, empathetic, and respectful relationships with my patients. I am calm, considered and will take the time to listen carefully and understand your goals.

As your doctor, I will offer you options based on the latest scientific evidence, support your choices and work with you to develop a care plan that is tailored to your needs, addresses your concerns and that you are happy with.

I believe my role is to help my patients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make the best decisions for their health and well-being.

My Educational Background and Professional Path

I am a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. I graduated from The University of Adelaide Medical School and embarked on my initial medical training in South Australia. I completed my specialist training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Westmead Hospital and Nepean Hospital in Sydney. Westmead Hospital is a major teaching and research hospital and is one of the busiest maternity units in Australia.

In my final two years of specialist training, I was the Maternal-Fetal-Medicine Fellow at Nepean Hospital, where I managed complicated and high-risk pregnancies including pre-eclampsia and blood pressure issues in pregnancy, gestational diabetes, pre-term births, fetal growth and placental issues, twins and multiple pregnancies, and maternal medical conditions.

Professional Experience

Before establishing my practice in Canberra, I worked as a Staff Specialist Consultant in the public hospital system in New South Wales. This experience was instrumental in shaping my approach to patient care, blending clinical excellence with empathy and understanding.

I relocated to Canberra driven by a vision to create a practice that embodies the highest standards of care in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Canberra Women & Babies is the realisation of that vision – a place where each woman's journey through pregnancy, childbirth, and beyond is nurtured with the utmost care and respect.

Outside the Clinic

Outside my clinical duties, I am involved in National Hospital Reaccreditation and Quality Assurance Assessments through the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

I examine final year medical students at the Australian National University and teach Obstetric & Gynaecology trainees, and General Practice trainees through the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

Family

My family is my greatest joy. My wife is a Public Health medicine physician and we have been together for almost 25 years. Together we have welcomed four beautiful, spirited and very loud children into the world. It has been a wild ride!

Thank you for entrusting your care to me and the team at Canberra Women & Babies. Together, we look forward to supporting you on your journey to optimal health and wellbeing.

Obstetrics

Whether you are seeking prenatal care, preparing for the arrival of your baby, or navigating the postpartum period, as your private Obstetrician, my team and I aim to help you feel as safe, supported and prepared as possible.

Gynaecology

From taking control of your fertility to managing menopause and beyond, we offer sensitive, individualised, specialist care to help you explore and understand your options.
